SUSTAINABILITY DESIGN PROGRAM - INTERNATIONAL TUTOR & LECTURER
Leeds School of Architecture in collaboration with Shandong Jianzhu University (SJU), China
In my role as an international tutor, I teach a comprehensive sustainability design program that explores ecological and social resilience through a dual methodology of making and cultural documentation.
My workshops challenge students to investigate sustainable practices through hands-on, site-responsive strategies. This integrated approach combines tactile, making-based design—where students physically test materials and construction junctions—with experimental representational techniques like film and drawing. Students apply these methods to document and respond to the rapid transformation of local contexts, from urban Jinan to the coastal fishing villages near Yantai. Their work moves from analysis to speculative proposal, generating innovative ideas for the adaptive reuse of structures and materials, and envisioning alternative, sustainable forms of occupation that honor both place and community.
