ART INSTALLATION
A collaboration with artist Savinder Bual. Exhibited in a group show at New Art Projects, London.
A Different Lens is a kinetic light installation that explores the phenomenology of perception, framing the viewer as the primary performer of the work.
The piece consists of a water-filled glass tube positioned upon a suspended sheet of steel mesh. As viewers move around the installation, their shifting perspective animates the work: light diffracts through the water and tube, causing the rigid grid of the mesh to appear to liquefy, warp, and generate complex moiré patterns.
This elegant apparatus makes the act of perception tangible. The viewer does not simply observe but actively draws the visual experience into being through their movement, connecting "lines of sight with matter." The work generates a perceptual experience comparable to the foundational illusion of film, where motion is created not within the object itself, but within the mind of the beholder.
